TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa man, who was originally charged with murder, has been convicted of manslaughter, according to OSCN.
Forrest Peterson was originally arrested nearly one year ago, on Dec. 30, 2021.
An arrest and booking report from the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said they were called to a Turley mobile park on Dec. 31, 2021 in reference to a woman who was not breathing.
TCSO said Peterson was the one who had called them.
According to TCSO, Peterson said he was involved in a fight with the woman and she was dead.
When TCSO arrived at the park, they detained Peterson and took him in for questioning.
According to TCSO, Peterson told them that he had gotten into a verbal argument with the woman over rent, stating that the woman wanted more money for rent even though his rent was paid until March of 2022. Peterson said the woman also slapped him across the face. He also he said he punched her in the nose when he thought she was getting a knife.
TCSO said Peterson told them the pair continued to fight and he eventually punched her in throat. Peterson told TCSO that the woman stumbled into her bedroom and he heard her fall. Peterson said after ten to twenty minutes, he checked on her and found that she was not responsive.
According to TCSO, Peterson said he waited an hour before calling 911 and turning himself into deputies.
TCSO said they arrested him for murder.
According to OSCN, Peterson’s original charge of first degree murder was amended to first degree manslaughter. He was sentenced to 25 years with the final five years being suspended.
