TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa pastor has announced he’s going to try to unseat Senator James Lankford in the 2022 Republican Primary.
Sheridan Christian Center pastor Jackson Lahmeyer made his announcement back in February but has really kicked things up on the campaign trail as of late.
Pastor Lahmeyer spoke to a crowd in Florida on Monday, saying he believed the United States is “under attack right now.” He went on to say, “There is a complete onslaught from the enemy and we need to stand and fight. To stand up for the Constitution. To stand up for the word of God.“
According to his social media, Lahmeyer would run on a campaign of “3 principles.”
1. Biblical
2. Constitutional
3. Common Sense
“This is how I will lead and fight on behalf of Oklahoma for our great country,” says Lahmeyer.
Pastor Lahmeyer has been critical of Lankford for what he says is Lankford’s lack of support for Trump.
Lankford was among more than a dozen senators who initially objected to the certification of 2020 election results. He changed his mind after insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Pastor Lahmeyer has gone so far as to invite former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to Tulsa on Tuesday to endorse his candidacy.
Flynn, who twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, was later pardoned by Trump.
Lahmeyer and Flynn will be part of a town hall in Jenks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
