TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police are looking for a suspect in connection with a graffiti case in east Tulsa.

Officers were patrolling near 31st and Mingo Wednesday night when they spotted two people painting graffiti on the side of the building with spray paint.

The officers arrested Leonel Sago after a short chase and saw him toss a can of spray paint, police said.

The other suspect got away. When officers photographed the graffiti, they discovered that some of the paint was still wet, police said.

“While conducting the investigation officers discovered that Sago had explained the meaning of some of characters and letters he had written on the wall to an officer during a previous contact,” police said in a press release. “Officers believe the symbols are associated with a southern California based criminal street gang.”

Sago was taken to the Tulsa County jail.

Anyone who may have information about the second suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
