Woman arrested for arson in downtown Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police arrested a woman for arson at a downtown Tulsa apartment early Wednesday morning.

Police assisted the Tulsa Fire Department (TFD) at Hewgley Terrace Apartments near 3rd and Houston, around 1:30 a.m.

Police documents say when TFD got to the third floor of the apartment building, they saw charred flooring and burnt papers.

Police arrested 63-year-old Latonya McVay for first degree arson and endangering human life.

Tulsa Police Lieutenant Katie Whitehead said a fire marshal arrested the woman after she lit something on fire in a hallway of the complex, following an argument with a man.

Documents say McVay told an officer that she started the fire.

First responders said nobody was injured.
