BIXBY, Okla. — The City of Bixby announced the groundbreaking of Bixby’s new fire station headquarters is set for Jan. 17,

The facility will be a critical part of Bixby Fire Department’s EMS service, as established and approved in a previous bond proposition in 2021. This new station will allow for faster response times to community medical emergencies.

For more than 40 years now, Bixby’s Fire station #1 has been located in downtown Bixby serving as headquarters for the department, but due to community growth, a matching growth in services has become necessary.

With this new 29,000 square feet expansion, Bixby Fire Department will also be able to expand their number of ambulances.

The new headquarters will have five drive-thru bays, a four-story training tower, administrative offices and housing to hold up to 14 firefighters, firefighting apparatus, ambulances and equipment.

An Emergency Operations Center will also be housed in the new facility, along with meeting and training space.

A launch date for a staffed EMS Service at the new Fire Station #1 is planned for January 2024.
