BIXBY, Okla. — The City of Bixby broke ground on Tuesday for a new fire station headquarters.
Bixby’s Fire Station No. 1 has been located in downtown Bixby and has served as headquarters for the department, the city said.
The new site will allow the city to increase the number of ambulance units dedicated to serving the community.
The new fire station will provide over 29,000 square feet of space, the city said.
It will have 5 drive-thru bays, a 4-story training tower, and administrative offices as well as house up to 14 firefighters, firefighting apparatus, ambulances, and equipment.
The launch of a staffed EMS Service at the new Fire Station No. 1 is slated for January 2024.
