TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa County District Attorney’s (DA) Office is not prosecuting the case against Tulsa artist Scott Taylor for allegations of sexual abuse of his adopted daughter, Madelyn Taylor and physical abuse allegations of his two minor sons.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) had initially substantiated sexual abuse claims made by Madelyn Taylor against Scott Taylor in a findings letter that was mailed to Casey Taylor, Madelyn’s mother on Nov. 1, 2016.

The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) investigated the case in 2016 and sent it to the Tulsa County DA’s Office. However, the Tulsa County DA decided not to file charges, citing insufficient evidence.

In early August 2022, a social media firestorm erupted when several women posted allegations against Scott Taylor of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior.

Madelyn Taylor, now 21, said these women inspired her to go public. Madelyn Taylor posted on Twitter the DHS findings letter from 2016 in early Aug. 2022.

“I felt like I wasn’t alone,” Madelyn Taylor said. “I’ve been told to stay silent for so long.”

On Aug. 20, several protestors gathered outside of Taylor’s art gallery on Cherry Street in midtown Tulsa to show support to the women who had posted their allegations against Scott Taylor on social media.

The Tulsa Police Department [TPD] confirmed that it received, “multiple police reports” with accusations against Taylor and was now investigating, on Aug. 22.

Four days later on Aug. 26, Madelyn Taylor filed a second police report against her adopted father.

Scott Taylor issued a statement proclaiming his innocence, calling all the accusations, “false. This is a hateful attack on my character.”

In response to the social media accusations, Scott Taylor sued his adopted daughter and two other women who had also reposted the findings letter, Kylie Wells and Sydney Turner for Legal Negligence.

Donnie Smolen is the attorney representing Wells, Turner and Madelyn Taylor.

Smolen said the Legal Negligence filing, “looked like nothing more than a bully, continuing to bully. That’s not what the civil process is for, and it’s not to intimidate and harass victims of sexual assault. And that’s what this lawsuit has done.” He has now filed a $75,000 countersuit on the behalf of the three women against Scott Taylor. The countersuit claims Madelyn Taylor was the one who,” suffered harm, including, but not limited to emotional distress, embarrassment, inconvenience, mental anguish and other actual damages.”

TPD then re-opened an investigation into those child abuse allegations, by Scott Taylor’s two minor sons and Madelyn Taylor.

On Nov.16, the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement saying:

“After a review of the reports submitted to our office from the Tulsa Police Department, our office has declined to file charges in this matter. Certainly, given the nature of the allegations, if additional information is developed we would review and reconsider if warranted.”

On Nov. 17, Taylor declined an interview with FOX23 through his attorney Keith Flinn. Attorney Keith Flinn told FOX23, “Scott continues to cooperate with the courts and law enforcement and asks that his children be afforded privacy.”

It’s not over for Taylor.

TPD is still actively investigating the case involving the assault accusations made against Scott Taylor in multiple reports filed in Aug.

The Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police Department has now confirmed it is reviewing the abuse allegations against Taylor by his children for a possible investigation.
