MEDFORD, Okla. — UPDATE 7/9/2022 9:37 p.m. — GCSO has posted an update on the evacuation order:

Medford Evacuation Order Update - 9:30 p.m.

Currently the evacuation order for all residents south of State Highway 11 in Medford is still in place. As soon as we have any change information on this, we will post it here.


UPDATE 7/9/2022 8:07 p.m.: — OHP has released new information about road closings near Medford.

US-81 will remain closed for a 2 mile radius from Greer Rd to Haskell Rd in Grant County, OK.

An alternate route to Medford from Enid area is to take Redhill Road (CR 880) to OK-11.


UPDATE 7/9/2022 7:09 p.m.: — GCSO has shared arrangements for displaced residents in a Facebook post that reads:

For any Medford residents who have been displaced from your homes due to the evacuation, OneOK has made arrangements with the following hotels in Enid to put up residents for the night:

Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Springhill Suites, LaQuinta, and Baymont.

After an explosion at the OneOK plant on Saturday afternoon, Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) issued evacuations in the city of Medford, according to Grant County Sherriff’s Office.

OHP closed US-81 at the intersection of Greer which is located approximately 5 north of Pond Creek, OK in Grant County.

They have also closed the intersection of US-81 and Haskell which is located 1 mile south of OK-11.

OHP has closed US-60/US-81 in Pond Creek, OK.

GCSO said the current evacuation zone around OneOk is a two miles radius.

The fairgrounds building in Pond Creek is open for people to go.

GCSO has said you cannot use Highway 81 south out of Medford.

OneOK released a statement following the incident:

Earlier today there was an incident at ONEOK’s Medford natural gas liquids fractionation facility.

All ONEOK personnel are accounted for, and we are unaware of any injuries at this time.

We are cooperating with local emergency responders and appreciate their quick response.

Our focus continues working with emergency responders to extinguish the fire and the safety of the surrounding community and our employees.
