MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Friends and family are mourning the loss of a Green Country musician after he was shot and killed on the evening of Dec. 12.
Friends say Trent Scoggins, 49, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon.
It happened near 70th and Hancock just outside of Muskogee city limits. The investigation is being handled by the FBI and Light Horse Police. One person has been taken into custody.
The FBI released this statement: “We have a non-Native suspect in custody. This is an ongoing FBI investigation. There is no other information I can release at this time.”
Brittany Sinclair never thought she would be laying flowers at the home where Scoggins lived with his wife and children.
“I know that one of my good friends lost his life. Everyone lost a good person,” said Sinclair.
Scoggins was known for his music and he played for several different bands. His friends say he produced some of the music from a studio he built in this garage.
Sinclair says she was at the scene Sunday evening.
“I miss him. I was at work, working late, and I just yelled at my boss I have to go,” Sinclair said. “I want for him to know that I am here for his wife and his kids and I will do whatever I can to help, and I miss him just like a lot of people.”
His friends say Scoggins leaves behind a wife and three children.
