The host time warping into the 2022 new year at the Circle Cinema’s Rocky Horror screening

TULSA, Okla. — Peter Bedgood is a local actor, visual artist, stand-up comic, and a jack of all trades from the Tulsa area.

The Circle Cinema and Bedgood go back a few years.

Some of Bedgood’s films have screened at the independent film, art house venue since 2014.

During the pandemic, Peter Bedgood performed stand up for an outdoor, drive-in Circle Cinema screening of The Yellow Submarine.

“It was like being trapped in a Radiohead music video,” said Bedgood.

Two weeks ago, Circle Cinema approached Bedgood and asked if he could do some trivia at the New Years event, introduce the show and recognize the “Virgins”. The “Virgins” are the first timers who have never seen the show in their lives.

According to Bedgood, the musical has quite a history with Tulsa.

Bedgood said he first saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Tulsa Theater, which was once the Brady Theater, in the late 80′s when he was 15-years-old.

“The audience was filled with bikers and cross dressers,” Bedgood recalled.

Audience members will be given a grab bag with props that are to be thrown at the screen at certain points of the film.

This is the 15th year Circle Cinema is screening The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The event begins at 9:30 p.m. with trivia and prizes.  Then, the film will start at 10 p.m.

Following the Dec. 31 screening of Rocky Horror, the Circle Cinema will celebrate by counting down to the new year.

And if you miss it on New Years Eve, you can catch another viewing next year, the next day, on Jan. 1.

“Everyone should go see it.  It’s like Mt. Rushmore, you should be forced to see it at least once in your life. There’s nothing like it,”  said Bedgood.
