4 units destroyed in South Tulsa apartment fire

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire near 91st and Delaware.

Crews said four apartments caught fire. Four adults and two children are displaced from their homes, but TFD reported no injuries or deaths.

Kathy Brandt was at home with her dog Lulu when she said she smelt smoke and saw flames.

“Smoke was coming by through my fireplace and then I went outside and I noticed that there was a wire that was on fire,” Brandt said. “Then I went into my apartment and got my fire extinguisher and then I was spraying the fire while I was on 911.”

She says she dialed 911 and managed to get out with her dog.

“It was out of control, there was nothing I could do,” she said. “I got my dog and everything else is replaceable.”

Andy Little with Tulsa Fire Department said they believe the fire started from an electrical box.

“There’s a void that goes across all these apartments and we believe the fire started in the electrical box on this far end and it traveled up into the attic space, and also traveled sideways, but crews recognized that the smoke was pushing through that area made access and got that knocked out pretty quickly,” Little said.

Around 30 firefighters responded to the scene and took action.
