It's almost time for the Tulsa Run

It’s almost time for the Tulsa Run.  There are several shorter races along with the 15K race and they all start in downtown Tulsa on Saturday morning.

Tim Dreiling, the owner of Fleet Feet on 2nd near Elgin, does benefit from the long time event.  He says the Tulsa Run used to be the final event of the fall running season but that the Route 66 Marathon has extended that into November.

Dreiling says both events galvanize the walking and running community in our area.  He says it gives them a way to support the community and in return, they see increased traffic.

The Blue Dome District location isn’t Dreiling’s only Fleet Feet store but it is very close to the start and finish to the Tulsa Run.  He says they do a post run party and have beverages and snacks on hand.

The Tulsa Run isn’t the only benefit to the downtown location.  Dreiling says they also do a lot of training program business and they needed more places to run.

The first of this year's Tulsa Run races leaves the starting line at 8:25 a.m. and the last one begins at 9:15 a.m.  Some downtown streets along with parts of 15th Street, 21st Street, Utica and Riverside all the way to 41st Street will be closed for the races.  Over 4,200 people participated in last year's event.
