A jury has found Alonzo Johnson guilty of murder and guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.

That jury took about 3 hours to return the verdicts. They recommended a sentence of life without parole as well as a $10,000 fine.

Johnson showed little emotion as the jury foreman read the verdicts just after 5:00 P.M. on the fourth floor of the Tulsa County Courthouse.

Investigators say Johnson stole the van that eventually was used as a getaway car in the Sweeney killing in 2008.

The former University of Tulsa football star was shot to death in 2008 while he was at work in Tulsa. Sweeney was president of Retail Fuels Marketing.

Johnson denies having any part in Sweeney's murder.

Johnson was the last of five defendants in the murder-for-hire plot.

Two others, Fred Shields and Terrico Bethel, were found guilty and sentenced to life without parole.

Another man, Allen Shields, cut a deal with prosecutors but committed suicide in 2011 during a standoff with police before his trial began.

The alleged mastermind, Mohammed Aziz, accepted a plea deal with prosecutors in exchange for his testimony. Sentencing for Aziz has been delayed until the remaining defendants' trials are completed.
