Bixby school buses with flat tires: Senior prank?

School buses in Bixby ran behind schedule Monday morning because of flat tires.   Bus drivers arrived at the Bixby bus barn to find multiple buses with flat tires.  Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kaylin Coody says approximataely 85 tires from 28 busses were flattened.

Coody says they're working with police to determine who was behind the incident.  She did not rule out the possibility of the school district pressing charges in the matter.

A recorded message from the Bixby district went out to all parents saying the buses would be running 2 to 3 hours behind schedule Monday morning.  A person at the bus barn confirmed the tires were not damaged but someone or a group of people had let the air out of the tires.  School officials scrambled to put air back in the tires and get the school buses rolling.

KRMG has been able to confirm that Monday is Senior Skip Day at Bixby High School.  We spoke with one parent of a senior who is allowing his son to stay home and participate in the tradition but says he will not be running around town with fellow classmates.  This same parent says his son had nothing to do with the flat tires.

Bixby Police Corporal Jerrod Martin says the tires were deflated by putting a BB in the tire stems to flatten the tires.  He says authorities don’t know who is responsible for the flat tires yet but if it is a senior prank done by students he suspects it will be easy to find out who did it since seniors tend to talk.
