Claremore man gets 35 years after deadly football party

Clinton Cottom

TULSA — A 35-year sentence was handed down Wednesday to a Claremore man after a deadly Bedlam party in 2021.

Prosecutors say Clinton Cottom was kicked out of the party and came back with his truck to ram the people who were celebrating outside of the home.

51-year-old Terri McCauley was killed and several others injured.

Cottom faced a maximum of five life sentences plus 11 years behind bars, but after a two-day sentence hearing, he was sentenced yesterday to 35 years.

One of the witness statements says, “I struggle daily with the trauma of that night. I cannot escape the haunting images, sounds, and smells of the crime I witnessed. I stood in the doorway of the garage and saw the horror unfold.”

Some of her friends have posted on social media that they had hoped for a longer sentence.
