The year of 2024 will draw to a close with a reminder from Mother Nature that winter actually began a few days ago.

Temperatures reached nearly 70 degrees F. on Monday afternoon, with clear, sunny skies dominating after a foggy morning.

But much chillier air is heading into the metro, and Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to be in the mid-40s.

That, in turn, means that by the time 2025 arrives at midnight Tuesday into Wednesday, temperatures will likely be right at, or below, the freezing mark.

FOX23 and KRMG Chief Meteorologist James Aydellot predicts it will be 30 degrees when the countdown begins on Tuesday night.

Conditions should remain dry through the rest of the week, so on the bright side driving conditions will be good for holiday travelers.

By next weekend, there’s a possibility of showers and even snow, as temperatures will remain more seasonal.
