Attorneys for Oklahoma death row inmate Benjamin Cole have filed a request with the Supreme Court, asking the justices to spare his life.

The request for was filed last week.

The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted against recommending clemency to Cole last month. If the Supreme Court fails to intervene, Cole will be executed Thursday morning in McAlester.

In the written request, Cole’s attorneys claim he has severe mental illness and is not fit to be executed. Cole is allegedly catatonic, can’t manage his own personal hygiene, and crawls if he is not placed in a wheelchair.

Cole was convicted of killing his infant daughter in Rogers County in 2004.
