Broken Arrow’s Ward 3 has a new councilor.

Local insurance agency owner David Pickel was appointed by the council at last night’s meeting to replace Christi Gillespie, who vacated the seat when shewas elected to the Oklahoma Senate.

Pickel hails from Poteau, Oklahoma, but he’s lived in Broken Arrow for the past 20 years and has been very active in the community, serving on the Broken Arrow Schools Foundation, Broken Arrow Bands, Rotary Club, and Chamber of Commerce.

Pickel serves until the next general election on April 1, 2025, and then voters will decide if he or someone else will serve out the next two years of the unexpired term.

Pickel says he does plan to campaign to keep the job as Ward 3 councilor.
