TULSA, Okla. — Drivers at the Tulsa Shootout are racing into the new year.

Wednesday was the second day of the big micro-racing event.

While most people were sleeping in or recovering from New Year’s Eve, drivers at the Tulsa Shootout were getting ready to start 2025 off with fierce competition.

Zach Wigal has been racing for 10 years now. His dad and grandfather were both into racing.

He said he’s got a full racing schedule and is looking for even better scores in 2025.

“I just love to be here having a blast,” Wigal said.

Russ Disinger spent his New Year’s in at the Tulsa Shootout, far from his home in Indiana. He’s been coming to this event since 2010.

It may not be a traditional New Year’s celebration, but there’s nowhere else he’d rather be.

“We really worked this year getting everything a lot better and being more consistent, coming with a couple of new cars and getting ready to go for this year,” Disinger said.

Luke Drotschie has been racing for 15 years and moved from South Africa to North Carolina for the sport.

He’s hoping to start the new year off right with some good competition and good scores.

“We’re mostly here to have fun, just here to have a good time, next year we’ll have goals set up for ourselves and keep working at it,” Drotschie said.

The races are going through Saturday if you want something to do during the first week of 2025. You can get tickets at the door.
