Now that the elections are over, many are wondering when the countless political signs will disappear.
Tulsa city ordinance says political campaign signs can be erected 45 days before an election and have to be removed within seven days following an election
Violating the ordinance could cost you $500 and land you in jail for 90 days, but city officials tell us they'd rather the signs get picked as opposed to prosecuting anyone.
City spokesperson Michelle Allen says, "Before the City can prosecute, we would need evidence to establish probable cause on all the elements of the offense. This is a fact specific determination based upon evidence presented to the City Prosecutor’s office from TPD or by a code enforcement officer charged with the duty of enforcing the Zoning Code."
