A large fire broke out in downtown Wagoner Monday afternoon.
The City of Wagoner asked residents to conserve water while crews battled the blaze.
“This will help us be proactive and avoid our water towers reaching critically low levels.” The city said in a social media post.
Emergency management officials said work was being done on one of the buildings when the fire broke out between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.
A spokesperson for the Broken Arrow Fire Department, which assisted Wagoner firefighters, said at least four storefronts were lost in the fire.
Firefighters from Pryor, Fort Gibson, Oak Grove, Toppers, Taylor Ferry and Okay were also on the scene. Officials from Wagoner County Emergency Management and the Oklahoma Disaster Taskforce were also at the site Monday afternoon.
Main Street was closed between Cherokee Street and SE 3rd Street.
No injuries were reported.
The fire broke out directly across the street from a 2017 fire that destroyed multiple historic structures on Wagoner’s Main Street.
