Lines at local fireworks stands are steady this year, with family spending up a bit from last year according to fireworks vendors.
The increase in spending is because there is no burn ban this year, says Matt Hiller at the Castle in Muskogee.
According to one local vendor the time of day makes a difference on how much money someone will spend on fireworks. Customers during the day will spend an average of $75 or so, but in the evening that number jumps to around $200 per customer.
Hiller says the families shopping with him average around $170. he says that he's seen some come through who spend several thousand dollars in one visit.
Not all people are big spenders. KRMG talked to one customer who will spend only twenty five dollars this year. He plans to watch one of the big commercial fireworks displays instead.
