Bill Christiansen announced he will endorse Kathy Taylor for mayor after all.
In September, the former city councilor said he wouldn’t choose sides.
Christiansen finished third in the June nonpartisan primary behind fellow Republican Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Democrat Kathy Taylor.
At Wednesday's press conference, Christiansen told KRMG that, since his refusal to endorse Bartlett or Taylor in September, he has seen an irresponsability and lack of accountability become even worse.
KRMG contacted incumbent Mayor Dewey Bartlett's campaign manager, Dan Patten.
He said Wednesday's announcement doesn't exactly come a surprise.
"Honestly, we thought he did this back in September, when he held that press conference and was miked up, and Kathy Taylor's been using the quotes."
He went on to say "this is by no stretch of the imagination new news."
During the primary campaign, Christiansen and Bartlett reportedly sealed a deal whereby the loser would endorse the winner, but Christiansen changed his mind after losing that primary.
Patten tells KRMG "Christiansen said something when he was a candidate because he thought it would help him after the primary, and he went back on it, and that was his choice."
The general election is on November 12th.
KRMG crews will be live from both camps next Tuesday.
The winner will take office in December.
