Hundreds of police, citizens turn out to honor Sgt. Craig Johnson

Today, hundreds of police officers gathered near Saint Francis hospital, and hundreds more citizens lined Yale Avenue, to honor Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson, who died yesterday after he was shot during a traffic stop early Monday.

Johnson will continue to save lives, even though he lost his to a gunman.

He is an organ donor, and today his body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office in Tulsa, and from there it will go on to Oklahoma City for the donation.

The line of police vehicles and other emergency responders stretched for miles as they escorted the hearse carrying Sgt. Johnson's body.

Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Jerad Lindsey spoke about his friend.

“His last thing that he does for the citizens is to save four lives with the donation of his organs.  Craig Johnson is an amazing person, and we were lucky to have him,” Lindsey said.

Johnson was a 15-year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department.

He leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
