Oklahoma City — A lawsuit is filed by parents and church leaders against State Superintendent Ryan Walters to halt his bible mandate.

Superintendent Walters has been pushing to add the Christian Bible into Oklahoma classrooms in order to use it as a teaching tool in yearly curriculum.

The State Department of Education has opened bids to purchase 55,000 bibles.

The lawsuit was filed today, according to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
