TULSA, Okla — A man is charged with first-deg murder after a woman died following a domestic violence altercation in north Tulsa last week.
“These can be bad and this was one that was bad from pretty much the very beginning,” Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean said.
Bean said police responded to a domestic call at the Bradford Apartments on Dec. 13.
“Officers get there, they find our victim severely injured,” Bean said.
Police said the victim, Latina Hill, was found unresponsive inside of her apartment.
“They administered everything they could to her. Other first responders got there and transported her to the hospital very quickly knowing that she was in a lot of danger and might not survive this,” Bean said.
Police said witnesses told officers they heard fighting inside the unit.
Bean said they originally arrested Arthur Wells for domestic assault and battery by strangulation and kidnapping.
“It’s scary, our investigators, detectives, our homicide detectives, along with domestic violence all were there and on this case immediately and knew this could switch hands based on our victim’s injuries from the get-go,” Bean said.
Hill died from her injuries on Tuesday.
“This is something we feared might happen and it did,” Bean said.
Court records show on Wednesday that Wells’ charges were upgraded to first-degree murder.
“He is going to face his consequences for this, this is a terrible situation,” Bean said.
Wells is in the Tulsa County jail on a half-a-million-dollar bond.
Tulsa Police said this was the city’s 50th homicide of the year.
