A Sapulpa man is facing a first-degree manslaughter charge for a fatal wreck that happened early Thanksgiving morning in Broken Arrow.
Broken Arrow Police believe that 24-year-old Ethan Maier was drunk, when they say he ran a red light at Washington and Elm Place and crashed his Ford Ranger into the passenger side of a Nissan Altima.
Police say Maier was driving east on Washington and that the Altima was going south on Elm Place.
Police say the front-seat passenger in the Altima, Michael Hill, suffered multiple skull fractures and a brain injury and died a week later.
The driver of the Altima and two juvenile passengers in the back seat were not seriously injured, police say.
Police at the scene of the wreck say that Maier had slurred speech and alcohol on his breath.
They say they also obtained surveillance video from a nearby bar that shows Maier drinking shortly before the wreck.
Maier was arrested last Thursday and booked into the Tulsa County Jail.
He’s been charged with First-Degree Manslaughter-Automobile, DUI - Personal Injury Accident, Causing Fatality Accident without a Valid Driver License, and Failure to Stop for a Red Light.
