Man tries to light girlfriend on fire

Tulsa officers responded to a domestic call on Friday and ended up finding a female victim with multiple visual injuries.

Police say the incident happened at a home on Trenton Avenue.

The victim told officers her boyfriend, Roger Ellis, became enraged and began to punch her and hit her with a stick.

Before long, he tried to light her on fire with "Coleman fuel" and a lighter.  He failed, but continued his assault on the victim.

Police say he then grabbed a large walking stick and began hitting his girlfriend on her back and legs.

The victim told officers she was afraid, so she just remained still during the beating.  It was during this time, Ellis is said to have dropped his pants and raped her.

He then left the scene, but was located by officers and arrested.

Ellis is currently in the Tulsa County Jail and faces counts of rape and domestic assault and battery.
