According to National Weather Service data, 152 tornadoes were confirmed in Oklahoma in 2024.
The number was updated just as the year was coming to an end, putting the number above the previous record of 149 set in 2019.
Setting 2024 and 2019 aside, the last time the state saw this many tornadoes was 1999 when 145 were recorded.
2011 and 2015 were busy years too, with 119 and 111 tornadoes respectively.
The slowest tornado year in Oklahoma was a decade ago when, in 2014, there were only 16 recorded in the state.
Back to 2024 now, the busiest months were April (56), May (54) and November (36). Those numbers for April and November set new records.
