OKMULGEE COUNTY, Okla. — An Okmulgee County woman was arrested and charged with child neglect after her son was found to have died from a fentanyl overdose.
According to court documents, deputies with the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office were called out to the home of Jordan Burks on June 20, 2024.
Once deputies arrived, the document states Burks asked the EMTs to bring Narcan to her son who was unresponsive. EMTs called the child’s time of death soon after they arrived at the home.
When asked why she had asked for Narcan, Burks allegedly stated her son could have gotten a hold of opioids, which she had used for two years.
Court documents state the medical examiner reported Burks’ son’s cause of death as acute fentanyl toxicity.
Burks is currently being held in the Okmulgee County Jail.
