MCCURTAIN COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association (OSA) Board of Directors met in an emergency meeting in regard to the events in McCurtain County.
They voted on the suspension of McCurtain County Sheriff Kevin Clardy, Investigator Alicia Manning, and Trust Administrator Larry Hendrix.
According to their OSA Bylaws, “a member may be suspended for good and sufficient cause. by the Board of Directors at its regular monthly Board Meeting by a majority vote of those present constituting a quorum. The member may appeal in writing the suspension within sixty (60) days after notice to the OSA Board of Directors of the Corporation for a final decision by a majority vote of those present constituting a quorum.”
This is not a suspension from their roles as sheriff, investigator or trust administrator, but a suspension in their membership to the organization.
According to the OSA’s Mission Statement, they “maintain the Office of the Sheriff through training and education; developing laws and policies that promote public safety and; providing technical and informational support to assist the Sheriffs of Oklahoma in providing effective and quality law enforcement services to the citizens of the State of Oklahoma.”
