The old saying "looks can be deceiving" would apply to Pluto's atmosphere.

It looks eerily similar to Earth's, now that scientists have a color photo of it.

Backlit by the sun as the New Horizons spacecrafts sped behind Pluto, the atmosphere of the dwarf planet shines a brilliant shade of blue just like ours here on Earth.

But don't go looking for life on Pluto just yet, scientists say.

Business Insider reports the blue comes from sunlight passing through small soot-like particles called tholins.

Even if Pluto wasn't incredibly cold, the atmosphere is far too thin to support life like we have on Earth.

Scientists were still amazed though to find that Pluto's atmosphere extend much farther than they expected.
