A Tulsa County Sheriff's Detective has achieved the rare honor of becoming an accredited crime scene analyst.

Det. Tressi Maybee recently attended a ten-week course  at the National Forensic Academy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

There, she underwent additional training in analyzing blood spatter, projectile trajectories, fingerprints, and even excavating graves.

She told KRMG the most intense training came in the field of crime scene photography, adding that properly photographing a crime scene is the most important skill to achieve.

Sgt. Shannon Clark, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said Tulsa is very lucky to have a detective the caliber of Det. Maybee.

He said only a handful of law enforcement officers in the state, if any, have the same level of certification from the International Association of Identification.

Maybee said her love of detective work began as a child, and that she and her sisters would play detective rather than play with dolls.

She said the crimes that motivate her the most are those committed against elderly victims.
