The Love Boat goes to the scrapyard

Pacific Princess Pacific Princess (Cruises.co.uk)

The ship was once a star in her own right.

From 1977 to 1986 the Pacific Princess was the setting for the ABC show “The Love Boat.”

But the ship was sold by the line in 2002 and changed hands several times before ending up at a dock in Genoa, Italy.

The Princess was towed to a scrapyard in Turkey to be dismantled for its metal and other parts but it didn’t go gently.

During the trip the boat took on water after encountering a storm and tugboats were needed to help finish the trip.

The Pacific Princess was small by today’s standards at 561feet long and carrying 600 passengers.

But that didn’t stop many from booking trips onboard because they wanted to cruise on the same boat that Captain Stubing, Doc, Isaac, Gopher, and Julie called home.
