TPD release surveillance video of suspect in 2020 unsolved murder (Tulsa Police Department)

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department has released surveillance video of the suspect in a nearly 5-year-old unsolved murder.

Muhammad Imran was shot and killed in North Tulsa in 2020.

“I let them know I have not forgotten about them, so this family needs this to help them move on,” Tulsa Police Homicide Detective Reggie Warren said.

The family of Imran has been searching for answers for nearly five years. Warren said they have exhausted every lead.

“That is why we are reaching out to the public to get some information and get some help identifying this guy,” Warren said.

Warren said Imran was just 27 years old and recently married when he was shot and killed while at work in June 2020 at the Zen Zel Plaza near Pine and M.L.K.

“It makes you mad knowing what this guy is planning, these people are just trying to make a living and this guy is planning to come back and do what he did,” Warren said.

Warren walked FOX23 through an unseen security video from earlier in the day of the murder, the suspect dressed in red.

“Around 4 p.m., a black male matching my suspect’s description walks in and made a cash purchase then left. Same build, some of the same clothing, same shoes,” Warren said.

Detectives said that night Imran and another employee were taking out the trash, a routine task for the pair. Warren said a masked suspect came at the two employees from an abandoned car wash.

“He came out already had his gun pointed, making his demands for them to get down on the ground. The female employee immediately got down, but my victim did not immediately comply. I don’t know if that angered the suspect that he did not follow his orders, but he shot him. Right after that, he forced the second female employee back inside the store where he proceeded to take money from the cash register,” Warren said.

Warren said the suspect then ran off. Detectives canvassed the area, talked to neighbors, and got as much surveillance video as possible but even then, no leads seemed to stick.

“Everything fell in place for the suspect in this case. Not much fell in place for me and that is why we are reaching out right now and a sum of money was donated,” Warren said.

If you have any information on who the masked suspect is, $10,000 is being offered as a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
