TULSA — While former President Donald Trump’s alleged hush-money payments to two women may lie behind some of the charges to be unveiled Tuesday in a Manhattan court, it’s unlikely that those accusations alone led to the high number of counts reportedly filed.
That, according to former Oklahoma Assistant Attorney General Tim Gilpin, who spoke with KRMG Monday afternoon in advance of Tuesday’s arraignment of Trump.
“You anticipate that, in the middle of a Trump organization trial not too long ago that a great deal of evidence was accumulated. So I’ll just bet more than a few of the counts of indictment we’re going to see (Tuesday) are related to that, and not only to Miss McDougal or Miss Daniels,” Gilpin said.
Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, has gotten a lot of attention from media - and reportedly, threats from supporters of the ex-president - after claiming she was paid $130,000 to keep quiet about a tryst with Trump.
Allegations involving Karen McDougal, a model and former Playmate, also center on possible hush-money payments.
The former president is expected to turn himself in for arraignment Tuesday afternoon.
