A Union High School teacher has been named the 2023 National Teacher of the Year.
Rebecka Peterson, a math teacher and 2022 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, was announced the recipient of the award Wednesday morning by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).
FOX23 News reports that this is Peterson’s 14th year in education and her 11th year at Union High School, where she teaches pre-calculus and AP calculus.

Peterson holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in mathematics from the University of South Dakota.
