Video: Nursing students take part in Emergency Incident Training Drill

OWASSO, Okla. — Tuesday afternoon, staff members from Ascension St. John Owasso and Tulsa Tech will be participating in a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training event at the hospital campus in Owasso.

Organizers say the goal of the emergency incident training is to improve emergency readiness in the event of an active shooter incident.

Participants in Tuesday’s drill will include Tulsa Tech adult nursing students and hospital staff and security.

EMSA will also be on scene participating in the simulated drill. The exercise will focus on the medical response in the event of a MCI with an emphasis on patient and team safety, communication and security.

The training drill comes almost four months after the deadly mass shooting on the campus of the Saint Francis Health System. The shooting victims included Dr. Preston Phillips, Dr. Stephanie Husen, Amanda Glenn and William Love.
