TULSA — Severe storms with high winds overnight caused major power outages and scattered debris across roadways. Tulsa Police Department reports the significant winds have left damage across the city.
According to police, power is out in many parts of Tulsa and the majority of traffic lights are out at this time. TPD also reported that many streets and parts of the highway are covered with fallen limbs and trees.
Public Service of Oklahoma says they are actively working to restore power and could be working for several days.
The City of Tulsa has activated the Emergency Operations Center and city crews are actively assessing damage and clearing roads.
Police advise that you do not drive under powerlines and large tree debris.
The City of Tulsa has opened several cooling stations due to today’s heat advisory.
The following cooling stations are open for anyone without power needing a place to cool down.
- Reed Park Community Center, 4233 S. Yukon Ave., from 2 – 8 p.m.
- Lacy Park Community Center, 2134 N. Madison Pl., from 2 – 8 p.m.
- John 3:16, 506 N. Cheyenne Ave.
- Salvation Army, 102 N. Denver Ave.
- Tulsa County Social Services, 2301 Charles Page Blvd.

The City of Tulsa mulch site is currently closed due to downed power lines near the facility. If you have storm debris in your yard, please keep it bundled up and on your property until further notice.
