Winter weather expected in Green Country through Friday

Snow Expected in Tulsa (National Weather Service Tulsa)

TULSA, Okla. — Winter weather is expected to bring possible snow through Green Country on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa, Wintry precipitation will spread southwest to northeast across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Thursday through Friday morning.

NWS says the greater potential for a mix of precipitation types remains south of I-40, with all precipitation forecast to become snow overnight Thursday night. They say this wintry weather will likely impact the Thursday evening commute and the Friday morning commute.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 am Thursday through noon Friday for much of southeast and east central Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect simultaneously across the remainder of the area.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 6 inches of snow is possible with locally higher amounts possible. Travel is expected to become dangerous across portions of the area.
