DHS worker, church camp volunteer arrested in Canadian County

Falls Creek in Davis, Okla.

CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. — Canadian County deputies said a Department of Human Services worker and volunteer at Falls Creek Church Camp tried to meet a child for sex.

The two men arrested are not connected. Both admitted to their crimes, saying they were talking to who they thought were young girls through social media sites like Instagram and Snapchat.

“Skipworth was very graphic about what he wanted the decoy to wear, the places they were going to have sex at. He believed he was talking to a 14-year-old,” said Major Adam Flowers of the Canadian County Sheriff Department.

Canadian County deputies said on Wednesday that Dalton Skipworth sent nude pictures and set up a meeting with someone he thought was an underage girl.

Skipworth, a DHS employee, was volunteering at Falls Creek Summer Camp last week when deputies worked with the camp to arrest him. DHS said he’s been suspended and they have “absolutely no tolerance” for people who may harm a child.

“Parents need to be aware of what their kids are doing on their phones. They also need to be aware there are people out there actively hunting their children and if they don’t intervene or have procedures in place their child can easily be a victim of one of these predators,” Flowers said.

A Kansas man, Christian Dalmont, was also arrested. Deputies said he drove to Canadian County hoping to have sex with a 12-year-old.

“He admitted to what he was doing and admitted to liking little kids sexually. It shows that they’ll drive across state lines to pick up a 12-year-old,” Flowers said.

Skipworth has bonded out and formal charges have not been filed. Those will come from the district attorney.

In a statement from Falls Creek, the spokesman said, “We were grieved to learn of these appalling allegations. We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement and were pleased to assist in the apprehending of the individual. We remain diligent in carrying out our safety protocols.”
