OWASSO, Okla. — There’s a new place you can get healthy fast food in Owasso.
FOX23 visited the first 3Natives location outside the state of Florida, and learned what inspired a former law enforcement officer to move to Owasso and open the business.
Off 116th Street North and U.S. Highway 169, 3Natives had its soft opening in June.
FOX23 talked to customers who said they like the Chuck Norris smoothie and the acai bowls. Owasso’s 3Natives owner O’Neil Anderson said he enjoys the Greek on the menu, which can be served as a salad or a wrap, and likes to pair it with the Going Green smoothie.
O’Neil and his wife, Jamilia, are entrepreneurs. She was a full-time entertainer and he spent almost 20 years in law enforcement in Florida. Once the pandemic hit, they moved to Oklahoma and identified a need.
“Okay, there’s nothing here but chicken and BBQ,” said Jamilia.
“We realized quickly when we were here that there weren’t that many healthy options, at least in our own backyard, so we didn’t want to have to drive all the way to Tulsa,” O'Neil said. “We started to talk and one thing led to another, and before we knew it we were franchise owners of 3Natives.”
Supply chain issues slowed construction and they’re still in the soft opening phase. Their supplier didn’t carry the organic ingredients needed, in Oklahoma, But they’ve worked out the kinks.
O’Neil and Jamilia have been at the restaurant from open to close every day since the doors opened, in June, but said they plan to take the franchise to other cities in Oklahoma.
“We could have never in a million years thought that the demand would be so high for what we brought to Owasso,” said O’Neil. “At this current pace and this trajectory, yes, we will 100 percent expand.”
“It’s honestly really nice, because after you get done working out you can come over here and get a protein shake or an acai bowl,” said 3Natives customer Alexis Martin.
“I do feel really good knowing that a lot of the people who come in, they feel better when they leave and they come back because they do feel good and they’re counting on us to give them the healthy foods that they want to eat,” said O’Neil.
“Who knew? We could have opened our doors and no one could have walked through the doors, but it’s been steady and consistent since we opened these doors,” Jamilia said. “I would say that’s probably the best part of this whole thing.”
O’Neil said they’re still working on plans for a big grand opening with freebies, and they may expand their hours. Follow 3Natives Owasso on Facebook for the details.
