ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. — The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) confirmed two people are in custody in connection to a homicide that happened Sunday night near Claremore.
RCSO arrested Gary Hubble and his mother Lynda O’Fields for the first degree murder of Mike Hansen, among other charges.
Hansen was shot and killed near East 440 Road and South 4230 Road in rural Rogers County.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said Hansen was gathered with some people outside a burned-out home on a rural road northeast of Claremore when Hubble, who lives nearby, confronted one of the people gathered outside the house.
Investigators believe after that confrontation, Hubble went back to the home he shares with his O’Fields, his 78-year-old mother. Hubble asked O’Fields to get him a gun out of the house.
As Hansen was leaving the area on his motorcycle, investigators believe Hubble fired shots at him, hitting and killing him.
Walton said he believes the mother and son knew exactly what they planned to do when they got the gun.
It was determined Hubble is a convicted felon and is not allowed to have a gun.
Investigators don’t think Hubble and the victim previously knew each other.
