TULSA, Okla. — The mind behind Broken Arrow High School’s “Tiger Tails,” a program that uses therapy dogs to help students, is speaking to FOX23 12 years after the program began.

The volunteer therapy dog program travels to different Broken Arrow schools and provides comfort to students, staff and teachers.

“Tiger Tails” was started by a Broken Arrow teacher, and she told FOX23 that she wanted to bring joy to the classroom.

“The thing I like the best that just brings joy to my heart is just walking in and the kids just sparkle in their eyes,” Karen Holman said. “It’s not just the students. It’s everybody here, and they just say ‘This just made my day.’”

Holman went to Broken Arrow High School Thursday with Brownie, a 5-year-old service dog who was actually a rescue.
