Video shows flames shooting out of display at Louisiana Walmart

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Investigators said a massive fire that engulfed a display inside a Walmart in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, was suspicious.

The fire was reported around 9:45 p.m., officials told WDSU.

Video posted to Facebook shows flames shooting up to the ceiling of the Walmart. The fire appares to be near the clothing and jewelry display.

Officials told WWL that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office; and parish arson investigators are looking into what sparked the fire.

A customer in the store posted photos and video on Facebook, saying that he and his daughter were inside when the fire started. He said that he tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers, but the fire grew quickly.

Officials told WWL that a second fire started Tuesday morning was an electrical fire caused by the water used to put out the initial fire.

The Walmart is closed due to the damage, WDSU reported.
