Tulsa Fire Department heats up 2023 with men’s, women’s calendars

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department’s (TFD) calendar is out. The department released two calendars highlighting Green Country firefighters — one featuring men and one featuring women.

Craig Deerinwater is a Tulsa firefighter who helped organizer the men’s calendar. Deerinwater said it will certainly heat things up wherever it’s posted.

“It’s exciting for us,” he said. “[Exciting] for the community to come and share in it. And I think they enjoy it all year long.”

The Tulsa men’s calendar is a bit of a tradition. It has been circulated every year for almost three decades. Sales for the men’s calendar go towards the Tulsa Fire Museum.

Deerinwater is on the museum’s board, and he told FOX23 the funds will help them with this year’s big plans.

“We’re going to have a big expansion on the east side of the property,” he said. “It’s going to house different apparatus throughout the years. Inside this building, it will be interactive with children and display all of the rated acts that Tulsa Fire Department has done over the years.”

Along with the men’s calendar, women firefighters from across Green Country are showing what they’re made of with their own calendar.

Kendall Williams has been a Tulsa firefighter for six years, and she’s Miss December in their women’s calendar.

“I’ve never really done anything like that. So it’s really cool to see the strength and power that the girls feel in those pictures,” Williams said.

The women’s calendar was launched five years ago. Williams said it is one of the only local women firefighter calendars in the country. She also said it’s a great boost for women, and it empowers female firefighters and those who want to be firefighters.

“It’s a cool position to be in, to be role models” she told FOX23. “Just to be able to help maybe another female that they’re the only one in their department to get through and survive. And know they can do this.”

The money raised from the women’s calendar goes to Hydrants of Hope, an organization that helps families of children battling cancer.

“Any amount of funding that we can put towards that to help relieve some of that burden from them is huge,” Williams said.

Both calendars are $20. You can purchase them here.
