Tulsa SPCA hopes your ex is ‘down in the dumps’ this V-Day

TULSA, Okla. — At the Tulsa SPCA, they have all those holding a grudge against an awful ex-partner an option to still celebrate Valentine’s Day.

For a donation of $14, those hoping to “bury” their past can do so by having the SPCA write the name of their ex on a litter box!

“We started out last week and the idea is for a $14 donation, we’ll put the name of your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, whatever, on a valentine that will go along the Kennels in our shelter,” said Kyle Paddock, SPCA director of communications. “But, if Valentine’s Day really isn’t your thing, we have you covered too. You can put the name of maybe an ex … we’ll put that name in our litter boxes with our cats in the shelter and the clinic.”

Paddock said the shelter has received more than 50 donations so far and they expect more to come as V-Day approaches.

“I think it’s about 60/40,” Paddock said. “60 being regular valentine’s, 40 being, shall we say, ‘festive’ valentine’s.”

Paddock said the money raised will go back into the shelter and its needs.

“This will go directly to our pet care efforts, which is directly to animal care,” Paddock said. And those are anything from, you know socialization, the shelter, to dog bowls, to food. Anything that will help take care of the dogs and the cats, this goes directly towards. And this also will help our low cost vet clinic in any operations that they have regarding the animals that we have here. And even folks who bring in their own animals for our care.”
