Before they came to Tulsa, they were both injured off the coast of California. Reyes lost an eye due to an infection and Cisco was attacked by a shark.
The Marine Mammal Center gave them both care, but they were deemed unfit to be released back into the wild due to their injuries.
Cisco and Reyes are currently sharing their Tulsa home with Cash, a sea lion from the Oklahoma City Zoo, according to the Tulsa Zoo.
Cash joined the Tulsa Zoo in late 2022, and will remain there until his own marine mammal habitat is built at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
The Oklahoma City Zoo said construction on Cash’s permanent home will start in the spring of this year.
