NORMAN, Okla. — Desiree Sanchez, 27, and Octavio Sanchez, 34, have been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Unauthorized Removal of a Dead Body after police found a decomposing body the basement of a Norman home, according to Norman Police Department (NPD).

In January of 2018, a female relative of Desiree and Octavio moved in with them.

Several months later, other family members began to look for the victim after not hearing from her.

On May 13, 2021, NPD received a call of a reported body in the basement of a home on W. Lindsey St.. Officers responded and found a decomposing body wrapped up in a plastic wrapped box in the basement of the home.

The body was later identified as the female family member of Desiree and Octavio.

On July 6, 2022, the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the victim’s death as a homicide.

Throughout the interviews and investigation, it was determined that both individuals played a role in her death.

On July 21, 2022, NPD arrested Desiree after a 14 month investigation. Octavio was also charged but was already in custody in another county on different charges.

Both Desiree Sanchez and Octavio Sanchez are charged with Murder in the First Degree and Unauthorized Removal of a Dead Body.
