Tulsa native Tony Casillas reminiscences about winning Super Bowls with Cowboys

TULSA, Okla. — Super Bowl LVII is fast approaching. In just two days, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday at 5:30 p.m. right here on FOX23.

FOX23 Sport Director Nathan Thompson talked to a Tulsa native who is a two-time Super Bowl champion.

Nathan talked to Tony Casillas, a former Dallas Cowboys player, over Zoom Friday where he showed off his Super Bowl championship rings. He had a lot of interesting things to say; like warning players they’ll hyperventilate before the game due to nerves or that his father pulled an all-nighter to celebrate his first win.

He also described the feeling of finding himself as the team’s captain during both Super Bowls.

“When I went on the field, and I’m a captain ... I’m thinking, ‘What am I doing here?’” Casillas said. “Reflecting on where you came from and everything. It just kind of like an out of body experience.”

He continued, “There’s nothing like this. And that opportunity to be able to play in a game like that. It’s almost like, ‘Pinch me.’ It’s unreal.”

Nathan also asked Casillas who he is picking to win on this Sunday’s Super Bowl. He went with the Eagles, even though it pained him to say since the team is division rivals of the Dallas Cowboys.
